Roger Sorkin is an award-winning film Producer, Writer, and Director, and the Founder of the American Resilience Project, a nonprofit that creates media to influence public policy, ignite civic action, and drive investments that strengthen environmental, economic, and social resilience. He has served various nonprofit, academic, and government institutions, including the UN World Food Programme, USAID, Indianapolis Airport Authority, U.S. Global Leadership Campaign, NATO, Flex Your Rights Foundation, American Cancer Society, and others.
Roger has taught energy and environmental communication at the Fordham University Gabelli School of Business and is a featured speaker to diverse audiences across government, academia, NGOs, faith groups, trade associations, and others. He is a fellow with the Truman National Security Project, and he has served on the Climate and Security Working Group at the Center for Climate and Security, and on the Managed Retreat Expert Group with the American Society of Adaptation Professionals.
Roger received a B.A. in anthropology from Johns Hopkins University, and an M.A. in communication from Stanford University. After many years living in Washington, DC, he now happily resides in the eastern foothills of the Berkshire Mountains with his wife and three children, who, along with coaching baseball, playing music and quietly watching bobcats from his open office window as they try unsuccessfully to break into his family’s chicken coop, sometimes help him take his mind off of trying to solve civilization’s unprecedented, existential challenges and just enjoy life.
